Welcome to NewMexicoFlores.com

Providing information and images related to ferns and flowering plants from areas in New Mexico and the history of their discovery.

New Mexico is the fifth largest state in the United States. It is at the crossroads of several floras, with influences from the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountains, the Great Basin, the Chihuahuan Desert, and the Sonoran Desert. The state's flora contains about 4100 species. Species new to science continue to be discovered in the state. The floral diversity is remarkable and fascinating. Several areas in the state are poorly known botanically. This website is an effort to stimulate interest in and excitement about the state's wonderful plants.
