The character of the adaxial surface of the pinnae of this fern is intermediate between Ch. wootonii and Ch. lindheimeri, appearing sparsely pubescent. The scales on the abaxial surface are ciliate for their entire length with cilia long enough to extend onto the adaxial surface, but are not tangled. The adaxial surface is glabrous.
