(Maidenhair fern Family)

The adaxial surface of each pinna appears to be densely tomentose. In fact, it is essentially glabrous. The abaxial surfaces of the pinnae are densely covered with scales with long, thin, curly cilia which wrap around the ultimate segments forming a tangled mass on the adaxial surface.
