ASPLENIACEAE
(Spleenwort Family)
Asplenium septentrionale
(Linnaeus) Hoffman
forked spleenwort
(Fertile tetraploid)
The few long and narrow pinnae on a short rachis make the plant look like a tuft of grass. It is extremely difficult to recognize as a fern unless bearing sori. Photographs were taken in Arizona, but the plant has been confirmed in the Gila Wilderness in 2009.
